Archive for December, 2016

Happy Friday! I’m over here nursing a cold and taking a look back at 2016. This past year was good to me and I can only hope that 2017 is as healthy and happy! In honor of the new year here are 12 of my favorite outfits and trends from 2016!

The floral dress – A classic style that will always be around! I love the simplicity of this long sleeve swingy one!

(floral dress, scallop heels)

The check blanket wrap – easy to carry with you and throw on when you need it. I’ve had various versions of these by my side for the last few weeks!

(check blanket, cognac tote, skinny jeans, rockstud pumps)

The bell sleeve top – I think we can all agree that this trend is such a fun party top! How pretty is this sweater version?

(white topjeweled necklace)

The sleeveless sweater – Perfect for season transitioning! And how cute is this grey turtleneck?

(black sweater, leather clutch, skinny jeans, nude sandals)

The caftan dress – A summer essential, hides a plethora of pool bbq sins. How amazing is this black one?

(pleated caftan dress, circle bag)

The belted circle dress – I love a feminine shape and this dress has it. I love it so much that I got it in two colors!

(green dress, jeweled sandals)

The simple shirtdress – I love any dress that I can dress up or down. And how cute is this flannel plaid one?

(coral shirtdress, studded sandals, similar tote, mirrored sunglasses)

The off the shoulder dress – Probably my most favorite trend of all this year. Love the shape of this one and it comes in a few different colors.

(off shoulder dress, rockstud sandals, pink sunglasses)

The embroidered dress – I feel like I blogged a lot of these this year. I just love a fun boho detail. This creamy one is also a favorite of mine!

(embroidered dress, scallop sandals, pink sunglasses)

The off the shoulder top – Fun to wear and perfect for day or night! This one is another one of my personal favorites that I own, as well as this one and this one.

(white top, skinny jeans, espresso mules, drop earrings)

The off the shoulder sweater – Off the shoulder everything was pretty much my motto this year and I’m carrying it into 2017, too. How cute is this black one?

(grey sweater, skinny jeans, black pumps)

The stripe t-shirt – Another classic that is easily paired with shorts, jeans, or skirts! You can never have too many in your closet. How fun is this one with the criss cross back?

(stripe tee, white eyelet skirt, straw bag, tortoise sunglasses)

Cheers, Friends! Have a safe weekend and New Year’s Eve!

One of my favorite trends from 2016 that I will be carrying into 2017 is the little stripe dress. It works as a statement or as a neutral, can be dressed up or down, and comes in so many silhouettes. This navy and white one that I’m wearing below has a the cutest little ruffle collar and is under $50!

Here are some more little stripe dress favorites!

It’s not too late to pick up something perfect for NYE :) Here are some of my favorite options!

metallic dress, black pumps, black ruffle top, metallic sequin dress,

gold pumps, satin halter top, grey ruffle top, blue earrings, pink earrings,

gold top, black ruffle dress, black strappy pumps, black mesh dress,

red dress, necklace, white skirt, grey sweater, black boots, black dress

I’d love to wear everything single thing here. I wish my plans called for either that metallic sheen dress or that sequin dress, but the gold cold shoulder top or the satin halter top are probably more my speed this year. A great new pair of well fitted jeans can make any outfit feel 10 times better. Same goes for the perfect pair of heels.

A little bit of my life lately…

I attended a wreath making workshop with Vine Garden Market at Fritz Porter last week and LOVE how it turned out. I had never actually made a wreath before, it was so fun! I hung it on our bar at our holiday party last weekend.

Here are some of our holiday decorations at home this year. Love our cotton wreath!

And some pom pom garland mixed with our greenery.

Little Charlie Brown tree in the mudroom entry with these ornaments.

Colorful Christmas tree with a slight lean…

Josh did a great job with the garland and lighting on our porch swing.

With the kids at the Christmas parade.

My new lady by local artist Chambers Austelle. OBSESSED. I can’t wait to share where I’ll be putting her soon…

Some holiday favorites that have been used a number of times this month – glitter pompom heels, red earrings, and plaid coat!

Last weekend we had our big Christmas party and it was so much fun that I didn’t want it to end. We danced until nearly 3 am!

My friend Grace’s new jewelry collaboration collection with Ben Amun – so so pretty!! I’m wearing this cuff. Also, my Jane Pope ring and my black scallop heels.

Enjoying all of the time with these kids this past week. How cute is Lilly’s mini trench coat? I’m wearing Tuckernuck’s new turquoise earrings and this stripe cold shoulder top (it’s only $35)!

Garden & Gun Jubilee was so much fun this year, Gray and I went on Friday and had a blast.

Amazing deer wallpaper.

And with my Twine & Twig sisters :) Aren’t they beautiful? How lucky they are to have each other!

I’m wearing these earrings

I toured Molly B Right’s art studio and was blown away. She covers all of her paintings with bottle caps and the end result is so amazing. Even prettier in person!

Over Thanksgiving we did a staycation downtown at Charleston Place Hotel and had the best time!

I’m wearing this blue stripe swing dress, these sneakers, and a barbour duffle bag.

Shiny Stuart Weitzman heels :)

My talented friend Way Way Allen painted these cocktail napkins for a holiday party she threw with Jane Pope and Lauren Lail – amazing right??

Gray and I did some holiday shopping a few days ago together… Just kidding. I mean, we did go shopping together. But we didn’t really wear this together sweater around…

We took the kids to see the Nutcracker at The Gaillard and it was such a memorable experience.

These topknot tassel earrings are made by Charleston girl Hart Hargerty and I’m obsessed and want all the colors! Wearing this lipstick in juicy melon shade.

At one of our favorites, XBB.

The most amazing dining room situation on Sullivan’s Island. And right on the beach. I know.

Pretty Lake pajamas all in a row.

I finally found a pair of black high ankle boots that I love – the heels are chunky making them easy to wear all day long. And remember this check blanket wrap?

And that’s all the pictures I have so I guess that completes this installment of life lately :) xoxo
