I’ve had a hard time writing this recap because I have such conflicted feelings about our trip to Mexico earlier this month. We had a lot of fun and there were so many beautiful and meaningful places that we visited. I especially found San Miguel to be absolutely enchanting. Josh and I went with two other couples and everyone enjoyed the trip. With that said, most of our group got pretty sick mid-trip. It’s hard to say with 100% certainty what it was but we’re pretty sure it was the bacteria in the water (probably from ice cubes in drinks since we were all careful to only drink bottled water) and from fruit (again, probably because of water). Truth be told the sickness really had a big effect on our trip, a doctor came to our hotel for some, and there was a lot of missed vacation spent in bed, as well as more days in bed once we got home. I luckily was spared the worst of it and was okay for the most part. I hate to share all of this, but it’s just the truth of what we experienced. From what I gather from the many messages I received on Instagram, our experience is VERY common. But, Mexico and it’s people were lovely. Here are some photos of our trip and some of our highlights.

We toured Casa Barragan in Mexico City and the home was so incredible to explore. I loved all the light and color and use of outdoor space.

We stayed at Condesa DF and it was such a cool hotel in the most gorgeous quaint neighborhood. In the photo below, all of these white “panels” close at night to keep it quiet in the rooms since the middle of the hotel is open to the sky and rooftop bar. It’s really very beautiful.

Excuse the mess but wanted to show this pretty window. The rooms are pretty small but it wasn’t a big deal (until the sickness hit, ha).

For New Year’s Eve we ate at Huset, drinks at Gin Gin, and then rang in the new year at the hotel.

We visited the Teotihuacan Pyramids which was just absolutely marvelous. They were built in 200 CE. It was really windy out there (and I didn’t realize we would find ourselves at the pyramid when I got dressed that morning), so I had to buy a little pettiskirt to wear under my dress. It was pretty funny but it worked.

I loved all the pattern and detail they used. It was truly moving to stand there. We didn’t climb the pyramid because the lines were insane, unfortunately, but that would have been pretty awesome.

We went to a lucha libre wrestling match, I didn’t enjoy that at all but I didn’t expect to, ha! But sometimes you have to just take one for the team. Our other activities in Mexico City included dinner at La Jacinta, a long lunch at Contramar, exploring Diego Rivera’s water mural, and some shopping. I really wanted to make it to the Frida museum but sadly we didn’t make that happen.

Onto San Miguel. Which was the star of the trip for me.

We stayed at Hotel Amparo, which was truly one of the most incredible and lovely hotels I’ve stayed at. It’s owned by the Hibiscus Linens founder, Mariana Goodall. Every inch was exquisite, the rooms were very comfortable and uniquely designed and spacious, and the staff was the best. They went above and beyond for our group, including preparing a pot of homemade chicken soup for our arrival (because you know, sick friends). They ran to the pharmacy for medicine. And they were just so all around helpful.

The streets in San Miguel are colorful and architecturally stunning. I wish our whole trip would have been just in this city!

Haskell, Molly, and I went crazy in a linens store that we found and shipped a huge box back home (it arrived in 1 week which is pretty fast). I got a lot of things for Coral House!

This is before a winery tasting at Garambullo, which was right outside of town in the Mexican Highlands. The couple that owns the winery were adorable and it was their anniversary!

One of my most favorite things that we did was a cooking class at our hotel. It started with a trip to the market next door to buy all of our supplies!

And then back to the hotel in the chef’s kitchen to prepare our dishes. It was the BEST meal I ate the entire vacation. Not because I had any hand in making it, but because it was just so good. One thing about Mexico that was surprising is that while the food was really good, I expected it to be even better. I figured we’d be eating chips and salsa and guacamole every day but that just wasn’t the case.

Really, all of the best food of the trip was at our hotel, Amparo. They make some extremely beautiful cocktails, too.

We went on a horseback riding adventure (with @3senores on instagram) which was also one of our favorite things as a group! I would highly recommend this if you visit this area!

It really was such an enjoyable trip with friends and I loved San Miguel so much. If it weren’t for the water issue I’d totally go back. And maybe I will again some day. Again, I feel bad talking about it but it wouldn’t be right to share a recap and pretend that all was perfect. But it was fun.

In conclusion, traveling with friends is always a good idea.

Good morning! Today I’m sharing some of the prettiest pieces that are on my wishlist right now.

Bubble Glasses – I’ve had this image saved to my desktop for months now. I am just enamored by these bubble glasses. And they’re 30% off right now!

Rattan Flush Light – I can think of quite a few places I’d like to install these pretty rattan lights. They’re so simple and so beautiful.

Vintage Pink Runner – This rug is the most gorgeous shade of pastel pink! I like how the pattern feels somewhat minimal while being intricate at the same time.

Stripe Cartier Watch – Serious wrist watch dreaming right here. I absolutely love these colorful striped leather Cartier watches. In all the different shades.

Woven Coffee Table – Now this could be used as a coffee table or as a little bench/table in a hallway!

Mixed Collage Lady – This original piece is by one of my most favorite artists to collect, Chambers Austelle. I love the shades of pink and the shine on her blouse.

Leopard Ballet Flats – I love this updated square shape to this ballet flat! It comes in a few pretty colors, too.

White Martini Table – Here’s another piece that I could find quite a few spots for. This is the most adorable little table to perch your drink on.

Storage Armoire – This piece might be for a bedroom but I think it could be put to good use in most any room! It’s gorgeous.

I adore a piece that comes in multiple color options. It’s like a sure sign that the piece is so good when they offer lots of colors. Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite examples of this!

LIGHTWEIGHT BUTTON DOWN TOP:

The only problem with this cute tunic top is choosing a color. The pink and the purple are such beautiful shades, but the neutral colors could be worn non stop. Winter, Spring, over a bikini, around the house… So cute!

A-LINE MINI DRESS:

The shape of this mini-dress is one of the most universally flattering shapes. Bonus, it’s super comfortable too!

SLOUCHY KNIT CARDIGAN:

Not all chunky cardigans are created equal, and this slouchy knit cardigan above is a perfect testament of that. It’s not only cozy, but it’s actually somehow flattering! The pretty aqua-ish blue is my favorite.

VELVET HEADBAND:

I know this is a trendy piece but I still love them. This padded headband is great for a night out or just for running errands in slept in hair!

CHEEKY CORDUROY PANT:

I love a cheeky fit, they make everyone’s butt look good. These corduroy pants are adorable!

RUFFLE NECK DRESS:

Last but not least, this ruffle neck a-line dress has staying power and is perfect for those days/nights when you don’t want to show a waistline, IE any dinner out.

I am SO excited to return to the Southern C Summit this February. I’ve been going to this conference since 2013, minus the last two years for scheduling conflicts. I had serious fomo last year watching so many of my friends and admired industry experts from afar on instagram, so this year I’m not missing it. This year’s Summit will be February 5th – 7th on Sea Island, Georgia!

In case you’re not familiar with the Southern C Summit, it’s basically 3 days of socializing and learning from fellow industry friends, experts, and entrepreneurs. Topics focus on social media strategy, branding and marketing, PR, working with influencers, best practices for websites and newsletters, entrepreneurial advice/tips/motivation, work-life balance, and partnerships and collaborations, among others. And the food and drink and parties included is a whole experience in itself. No joke. There is literally something for EVERYONE. And I always say that it’s the most beautiful and KIND group of ladies gathered to literally lift each other up. As you all know I don’t really go to any conferences other than the Southern C Summit because this one is just different and special. Whether you’re well on your path to where you want to be, or you are trying to get inspired and just figure it all out, this experience is truly the best.

Past presenters include Gray Malin (above, and he was as fantastic as you imagine him to be), both Marysia Reeves and Julia Engel (two very dear and incredibly talented friends of mine), key voices from major businesses like Pinterest and Jet Blue, and so many well noted magazine editors.

This year’s presenters include Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co, Amanda Lindroth of Lindroth Design, Elizabeth Mayhew of the Today Show, and many more. There are 12 educational sessions, and I’m really excited to hear Lydia Fenet speak! Mixed in between all the sessions there are fun breaks and even a complimentary headshot session!

And I’m looking forward to being one of the Mentors during the mentor sessions at the Summit! These are basically small break-out tables focused on an individual topic, which will all be presented soon (I think this week)! I’ll be focusing on building a product/brand out of an already established voice. Essentially extending your brand. Traditionally companies start with a product first and then think about branding/content, but I’ve sort of done it backwards. There is no wrong or right way to grow! I’ll be sharing my experience with our rental home Coral House in the Bahamas, and also a new product we are about to launch (SO excited to share more about this soon)!

What I haven’t even mentioned yet is that the Summit takes place at one of the most gorgeous hotels I’ve ever stayed in, The Cloister on Sea Island, Georgia! Everything about this place is magical.

The Southern C Summit is limited to 300 attendees, and there are a few tickets left! Check out the website to see pictures and bios of all the presenters and mentors, as well as more information on what to expect. If it sound half way interesting to you (which is should) then buy the ticket! Take the three days for yourself, you won’t regret it. I would love to see you there!

Whether I’m dreaming of spring, summer, or an upcoming vacation, resort clothes are ALWAYS, hands down, my favorite style of clothes. They’re comfortable, breezy, feminine, colorful, and almost always have some sort of fun detail. Today’s New & Now feature is dedicated to the new Resort arrivals that are the cutest!

Raffia woven loafers for the win, and I can wear these in Charleston year round (it’s been 70 degrees here the last week). These would be really cute to wear while traveling to a tropical place, too.

I mean, how adorable is this Gingham one shoulder swimsuit?! That’s the perfect shade of blue, and the ruffle detail is gorgeous.

This light purple midi dress can go from beach to brunch, and would pair well with a denim jacket! And also a white denim jacket!

Do I even need to say anything about this blue stripe flowy mini dress? It pretty much screams “wear me every day”. It’s pretty popular too, so here are more sizes available here!

Now this curvy stripe crochet top grabbed my eye right away. It’s so unique! And doesn’t it look amazing with white jeans?

Banjanan keeps making this cute maxi dress in all the patterns and colors because it’s just the best shape!

I wear a majority of flat sandals in the summer and in beachy environments, so I love that these sparkly sandals add a little pizazz (how do you even spell that?) while still being comfortable.

This tiered dress is one of my most favorite shades of pink!! It’s really pretty and and easy to wear style.

When I mentioned “fun details” at the beginning of this post, the tie straps on this red maxi dress is a good example of that. A simple detail, I know, but still feminine and fun!

Okay so this white dress is my favorite thing in this whole round up! I LOVE the easy shape, the oversized sleeves, the short length, and the embroidered scallop trim! AND it comes in black as well!

Now these earrings make a statement. They’re like two beautiful sculptures for your ears.

I’m loving the tassels on this smocked white maxi dress. This just screams vacation to me!

Happy Friday! Today I’m sharing my first Amazon round up of the year, and I think it’s a good one! :)

This Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree is gorgeous and only $80! Bonus, it even ships in a planter! I love plants in a basket, too.

Finally, a food carrier that isn’t ugly! This thermal casserole and food carrier keeps food hot or cold, it comes in a lot of different colors (I also love this red), and there is even an adorable round pie/cake carrier version as well!

This Floor Length Mirror is both floor standing and wall hanging capable! I love this walnut one, but it comes in a lot of colors and finishes.

Okay I finally watched the short video about the Ring Video Doorbell and I have to say that I’m feeling it. You can actually chat with the visitor at the door, and see video footage of porch activity! Check it out here.

Maybe I’ve been under a rock and surely I’m not the only one, but did you know that this Fitbit Smartwatch has ALEXA built in?! I know.

These Bamboo Toothbrushes are perfect to have on hand for all the last minute sleepovers that inevitably happen with kids! Plus it’s a better option for the environment.

This Dyson Pure Hot Cool not only heats and cools the air, it also purifies it! It removes 99.97% of pollutants and allergens as small as 0.3 microns. I don’t know EXACTLY what this means but it sounds pretty effective to me!

So this Jute Rope Woven Doormat is classic and beautiful and only $22! Yep!

So this Dyson Airwrap has been on my wishlist for a while now. About a year, to be more exact. It actually dries your hair all while smoothing, curling, or just adding a little wave to your hair!

When we were in Harbour Island over Thanksgiving we met a family who had one of these Beach Tents and we saw them set it up a few different days and it was so easy and quick! It’s anchored by filling the bags with sand – so simple! I’m ordering one to keep at Coral House. There are a lot of different colors and patterns but I’m thinking the coral color is the right choice.

This Eero Wifi System covers 5,000 square feet of Wifi access! And it can pair with Alexa so that you can easily manage Wifi access for kids!

How adorable is this Fleece Popover Sweatshirt?! I’m all about relaxed and cozy clothes right now and this one is so cute!
