If there is one regret I have regarding my wedding registry (yes, 4 years ago) it’s that I only registered for one china pattern.  Why oh why didn’t I mix 2 or even more patterns that coordinate?  I know many of you have read through House Beautiful’s 101 Party Do’s & Dont’s.  One tidbit that stuck out was what Eddie Ross contributed: “Don’t set the table with a single pattern of china or silver, as though you just unearthed your bridal registry.  Mix it up, get creative.”  I’m breaking out the LOL on that one.

So I went looking for some inspiration, and it didn’t take me long to find some.  Look at how well the Weddingbee’s set looks!

So I want to know, did you/will you register for a few different coordinating china patterns?

  1. Good question, I registered nearly 5.5 years ago so I don’t remember the exact name. I know it was Mikasa, and it’s blue white and silver. I like it a lot, but like I said in this post, I would do it differently now. Thanks for the message!

Getting married in March and plan to register for one complete set, serving pieces with a classic gold edge, and then a few stacks of corresponding plates in different patterns. If you don’t mind me asking, what was the one pattern you registered for?
    PS – love your blog!

I would love to be able to mix and match! Why don’t we think of these things BEFORE we get married??

  4. Great idea! Getting married in June and we haven’t registered yet…thanks! And to think I wasn’t even going to register for china…

Ok. I kind of regret not even registering for china in the first place! I got married 3 years ago and to me it wasn’t something that seemed practical. Now I kind of wish I had of registered for some. However, I did inherit some of my mother in-laws mix matched china. And I’m liking the mismatched stuff that I do have and hope to add pieces to it here and there. I LOVE the mixture of the last 2 photos! So pretty!
