Have I ever mentioned to you all that I’m Catholic? Probably hasn’t gotten brought up as I avoid this type of topic here on the blog. That, and I wouldn’t say I’m the beeeest practicing Catholic. Sorry Granny. But in my religion we have this thing called Lent going on right now. People give up habits like eating junk and stuff like that for a short period of time. It’s really a nice thing.

Well, I’m going to start doing one good deed a day. I mean, yeah I like to think that I already do this so it should be super easy. But I’m going to really concentrate on it. And I think this One Good Deed A Day journal could help and make it all so much fun.

The book has lovely little prompts to encourage you. So like, when I’m ready to punch the delivery man because he forgot my 4th extra, extra ranch I can just chill the hell out and take off my cranky pants instead (but not in front of him!!).
Who wants to do this with me??? Let’s make the world a happier place one Look Linger Love reader at a time.

  1. I’m catholic too! I don’t think we’ve talked about this either before right? I just stumbled upon a blog where the blogger makes a good deed everyday, great ideas and inspiration ;)

I grew up catholic–not really practicing now…but I love the idea of doing something positive instead of taking something away. I have pretty much given up everything at some point. Hahaha. The worst for me…coffee and cussing. Ha!

I probably need to hear “take off your cranky pants more that I’d like to admit.” Love this little journal…too cute!

  5. Ha ha I literally have a post written regarding this journal- so great! I probably won’t follow through but I should :) !!

I am Catholic as well. My husband & I went to catholic school for 12 years;0! I do the 40 bags during Lent. Purge 1 bag a day get rid of excess & give to others who can use our stuff.
More important… What is extra extra ranch? :)

  7. I’m Catholic as well, also not the best practicing. I love the idea of starting a good habit on lent rather than giving something up!

I saw that journal at Anthro the other day. Love it!!

We’re Catholic too, and lent has always been about not only giving something up, but taking something on as well. Good deeds were always something we were encouraged to take on. That and the crazy nun who taught me in wee school always rattled on about “every good deed you do, gets you a sq inch in your house in heaven, and vice versa” so to cut in line, she’d always say something like “oops, you just lost a linen closet! Where will you put your towels?” My child begins to hear the same from me….Good Luck!

This is a great idea. Something that I hope I already do on a daily basis, but being aware of it will hopefully lead to more than one deed a day. I’m with you!

  11. I gave up bread :( But I like your idea and all add it to my lent.

  12. How have we not discussed this? Matthew and I are Catholic as well. I’m adding something positive instead of taking away something negative again this year. Works better for me. I’m too good at the going without… ;)
