Most days I just want to throw on something soft and swingy and go. I feel soooo much better when I manage to look great at the same time. Having a closet ready with easy choices makes all the difference. I’m pretty well stocked on solid swingy tops like that red pullover and the grey turtleneck below (which is what I live in during the cooler months).

butterfly top, knitted sleeve twill jacket, red swingy pullover, leopard sweater

leopard flare dress, twist slub turtleneck, turtleneck pullover sweater, stripe drapey tee

These pleated, slouchy jersey pants look pretty liveable too. And I freaking love this kiss sweater dress. The shape and layered look of it is amazing. Need some shoes? How about these soft lace up bootie loafers?

I’ll start this post by saying that it’s been a real hard two years, with the last two weeks being pretty awful, and the last 6 days best summed up as heart breaking. On August 22nd my childhood friend and college roomie, Amanda Rees, lost her battle to cancer.

Amanda was an amazing friend to many, a devoted wife to her one and only, and an inspirational mother to her three beautiful children. Losing my friend at the age of 31 is devastating. She bravely fought her cancer (a very rare high grade endometrial stromal sarcoma) for over two years with what some would argue was the most positive outlook ever . Amanda taught me so much about strength and love and courage, even when the hand she’d been dealt seemed to be the most unfair of all.

I spent the last couple of days in Indiana saying goodbye. It was good to be surrounded by family and friends to grieve. As tragic as it is for 3 young children to lose their momma in such an unfair way, it makes my heart happy to see Amanda live on in each of them. If they have half as much fun as we did, well then I know Amanda will be smiling smirking.

I want to thank you for your support after this post I shared two years ago. I felt that I owed it to you all to let you know of Amanda’s passing. I will be forever grateful for the emails of support, prayers, and resources that were shared.

I feel comfort knowing that you are now free of pain, Amanda. Rest in peace.

The little leather jacket – my fall obsession. What’s your favorite style?

I love all varieties but am really into the moto style this season.

removable sweater vest moto jacket, leather vest (love this one too), funnel collar leather jacket

moss green moto jacket, classic moto jacket, leather scuba jacket

green faux moto jacket, leather sleeve cardigan jacket, distressed faux leather drape jacket

I’m beginning to think about what I’ll be packing for New York Fashion Week – reeeeeally want to throw in some leather – hoping for a dip in temperature :)

It’s been a long week and I haven’t had a lot of time to on the computer, so today I’m sharing just a couple of links…

  • I adored my girl Mack’s Style at Home feature on GG. Girl is just too adorable for words.
  • Are you familiar with the term price adjustment? Did you know that a lot of our favorite stores will refund the difference between what you just paid on a recently purchased item and the new sale price? Yep! Check out which ones will right here.
  • I pulled together a couple of shopping guides for Charleston Magazine’s Grit for back to school – check out the kids list here and the college list here!
