Ah, NYC. One of those amazing places that I feel just as happy to fly away from as I do to fly into. I love visiting and enjoying the city for a few days (frequently, ideally), but it beats me down. Anyone else? I’m just a Charleston kind of girl.

But I have to say this trip was one of the best NYC trips yet. I brought my friend Gray along for the trip, and we stayed with my cousin Wes in Soho (Wes your apartment is perfectly located, maybe don’t move ever). Throw in a bunch of friends that either live in the city or flew in like me, and it was pretty great.

There is so much that I didn’t get photos of, mainly the super fun dinner Saturday with about 20 blog friends like Molly & Sally, Grace, Gaby, Julia, Jamie, Hanna, Bradley, Mackenzie, Mary, Amy… Shout out to Furbish for hosting. That’s what I love best about traveling for blog stuff, connecting with my like minded friends from all over. All in all it was very good times. I can’t wait to visit again soon.

Lilly asked me this recently. I pictured myself in 30 years and immediately answered her that I want to be a grandma. Ideally a cool grandma who still blogs and all that, but I definitely want to be a grandma when I grow up. I want to grow old enough to see and enjoy my grand babies. I want my children to grow old and healthy enough to have babies (and see them grow old, too). That’s worth dreaming for.

By the way… I asked Lilly what she wants to be when she grows up. She answered, “a blogger”. Well that’s just fine by me, Baby Girl.

Today’s post is in honor of the anniversary of September 11th.

As you might already know (hello instagram) I made my maiden voyage to New York Fashion Week. Sure, I’ve been to NYC plenty of times, but I’ve never been during Fashion Week. It was kind of a big ol’ crazy and exciting deal for me. I had a lot of fun events, shows, meetings, shopping, and socializing to attend to while I was there. I’ll tell you more about the trip this week but today I want to introduce y’all to my new network, StyleList. It’s AOL’s fashion site and it’s my new favorite site to read style articles, look at street style pictures, and keep up with the gossip. I’m honored to be a part of their network as their new style contributor. Like, really honored.

Oh hey there, Steve Madden. Look at you silently killing it this season.

I’ll take the Doubtit heel and the Tripplee bootie to start, please. And that grey Haggle bootie is pretty great for everyday.

I love Steve Madden’s affordable(ish) take on the trends. Looking good over there.

I find it glorious that this Fall is all about the statement coat. Imagine how simple it will be on the days when you just don’t want to think about what to wear. Throw on something basic and top it with your killer coat. Bam.

Desktop22

eclectic knit cocoon coat, leather/wool coat, lipstick coat, tweed blazer with leather trim

floral print swing coat, vintage inspired haircalf collar coat, boucle sleeve wool/felt coat, drapey shawl coat

boucle zip front cape, leopard coat w/ leather trim, sherpa lined army jacket, leather sleeve camel coat

I love this budget leopard print coat as an alternative to the Thakoon coat above. And if you really want to make a statement check out this Mara Hoffman quilted bomber.
